News Rita Colwell, director
of the National Science Foundation, will present the keynote address on
Tuesday, Nov. 19. Plenary speakers include Tetsuya Sato, director general
of the Earth Simulator Center in Tokyo, and Ron Kikinis of Harvard Medical
School. Masterwork sessions will be presented over three days and will
cover four general areas: infrastructure, life sciences, computer aided
engineering, and high performance computing in commerce. This year's technical
program also features 67 paper presentations, 31 full and half-day tutorials,
and eight panel discussions, including two on the use of information technology
